How much does professional drain cleaning cost?

It depends on which drain is blocked, whether the blockage is at the fixture or in the main line, and whether it needs a cable machine, hydro jetting or a camera inspection to resolve. A main line with roots or a collapsed section is a different job, and the camera tells us which one you have before you commit.

Can I use a chemical drain cleaner first?

We would rather you did not. Caustic and acid drain cleaners rarely clear a real blockage, they damage older pipes and rubber gaskets, and they leave a hazard in the line for whoever opens it next. Baking soda and vinegar are harmless but do little to a grease or hair clog. A plunger or a hand auger on a bathroom sink is fine. Anything beyond that, call a plumber.

What is hydro jetting and when is it needed?

Hydro jetting uses water at high pressure through a specialized nozzle to scour the inside of a drain or sewer pipe. It removes grease, soap scale, sludge and root hair from the full pipe wall rather than boring a hole through the clog. It is the right choice for restaurant and commercial kitchen lines, recurring grease blockages and mains that keep clogging after snaking. It is the wrong choice for a pipe that is broken, which is why we camera first.

Why does my drain keep clogging?

A drain that blocks repeatedly has a cause the snake is not fixing: a section with a low spot that holds water, roots entering through a joint, scale narrowing an old cast iron pipe, a partially collapsed clay tile, or a venting problem that slows the flow. A camera inspection finds which one, and the fix ranges from a jetting schedule to a spot repair or replacement of the bad section.
