What counts as a plumbing emergency?

Accepted Answer

Anything that is actively damaging the building or making it unsafe or unusable: a burst or leaking pipe you cannot shut off, sewage backing up into a living or working space, a flooded basement or a failed sump pump during rain or snowmelt, no water to an occupied building, or a leaking water heater. If you smell gas near a water heater or boiler, leave the building and call your gas utility first, then call us. A slow drain or a dripping faucet can usually wait for a scheduled visit.

Are you really available 24 hours a day?

Yes. Elevate Service Group Plumbing takes emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays, for homes and commercial buildings across Southwestern Ontario and the GTA. We tell you when you call how quickly a plumber can be on site, based on where you are and what else is running.

Does an emergency plumber cost more?

Accepted Answer

After-hours work is priced differently from a scheduled daytime visit, and we tell you that before anyone is dispatched. What we do not do is guess. You get the price for the repair before it starts, and if it makes sense to stabilize the problem overnight and complete the repair on a scheduled visit, we say so.

Do you handle commercial and multi-unit emergencies?

Yes, and they are a large part of what we do. A backed-up main in a condo, a burst line in a retail unit or a failed pump in an underground garage affects dozens of people at once. We coordinate with your site staff or superintendent, document the work for your records and insurer, and can set up priority emergency coverage under a plumbing maintenance contract.

We tell you when you call how quickly a plumber can reach your address, and for commercial and property management accounts we confirm response expectations for each site when we set up the account.

Should I use a drain cleaner or tape before you arrive?

Accepted Answer

No. Chemical drain cleaners can damage pipes and make a backup worse, and they are a hazard to the plumber who opens the line afterward. Tape and epoxy on a pressurized supply line rarely hold. Shut off the water, move what you can out of the way, and let us make the proper repair.
